Dr. Anne Mok
DAOM, L.Ac., RPh.
Dr. Anne Mok views the practice of medicine as equal parts art and science. Her career in medicine began with the science of medicine and a decade as a licensed pharmacist. Anne guided many on their path to wellness in this capacity; her primary focus being on treating symptoms. She began to observe, however, that optimal health is more than just an absence of disease. This realization inspired her quest to understand the components of what defines good health. Her Chinese roots led her to study the ancient healing art of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Herbology. Her Western medical training, however, continued to inform her belief that good health and good medicine should also be grounded in good science. All modalities and approaches, she found, can benefit greatly from an openness to new paradigms. Her resulting philosophy and practice of integrative lifestyle medicine is crafted from her ability and experience in multiple modalities and areas of expertise.
Dr. Anne’s comprehensive knowledge of both Eastern and Western Medicine, and of herbology and pharmacology is invaluable when navigating the common stumbling blocks of integrative wellness such as recognizing unfavorable drug interactions or disease contraindications.
She leverages her vast knowledge of genetic predispositions that manifest in systemic disharmonies to help individuals in identifying their innate tendencies toward disease or imbalance in their emotional and physical health. She specializes in working with women who are diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), fibroids, endometriosis, perimenopause and menopause. Her women’s health expertise also extends to infertility, as well as pre and post-natal care. Anne has gained a supplementary background in massage therapy which informs her treatment of musculoskeletal issues and complements her acupuncture skills. Anne specializes in treating herniated discs, pinched nerves, sciatica, rotator cuff injuries as well as tendonitis and other sprains and strains in the body.
Dr. Anne Mok serves her community as Acupuncture Supervisor at the Brownsville Multi-Service Family Health Center (BMS) where she implemented the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) detox protocol. This extraordinary modality supports individuals in recovery from substance abuse and addiction. Anne has also traveled with her Cornerstone Healing partner Dr. Peggy Regis Robinson to Haiti with the Capracare organization to train practitioners in this empowering technique. Anne’s work at BMS has grown into a collaboration with their rehabilitation and physical therapy departments, assisting individuals with pain management, a crucial component to healing and avoiding addiction. Anne also serves the TCM community on the advisory board for Kamwo Herbal Pharmacy where she consults on the formulation of their Meridian Tea Pills.
Anne received a Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Health and Science before advancing to her doctorate studies there, where she became a Doctor in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) in 2008. She further honed her studies at the China Beijing International Acupuncture Training Center and completed detox training at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Long Island University.
As a founding Partner, and co-owner of Cornerstone Healing, Dr. Anne Mok’s career is devoted to working with her patients to attain and maintain their healthy balance. Her quest to find that elusive territory of wellness that lies beyond basic disease prevention has led her here, to care for you.
